So, odd thing is that it doesn't say anywhere in the descrption that they are glossy. I recieved these horses glossy. I don't know if me recieveding them glossy instead of dull was an accadent, or if you will get glossy too, but either way they are beautiful (glossy is actually harder to find + usually charged more expensive)this 'toy' (I collect these, not use them as toys) isn't educational - but unlike a lot of toys being made these days, it doesnt make you stupid either, hahaha.They are not the most durable - they scratch fairly easy and can become broken or chipped.Although they are not too expensive, if you are looking to buy this as a toy and DON'T want it to get destroyed or stratched up (if you have rough kids) i would keep looking.But as a collector this pair of horses is BEAUTIFUL. I love the coloring, and the horses themselfs are gorgeous as well!I am 12 and collect breyer. I was soooooo happy that I didn't get the glossy ones . The only thing is that 1/6 come glossy and if you really want glossy you don't know if there going to come glossy because they randomly pick . So if you really want glossy they most likely won't come glossy . I was really happy I got the matt because I don't like glossy breyers . THEY ARE REALLY CUTE AND SOME OF MY FAVORITES !!!! LOVE THEM !!!!11This product was an amazing buy! So happy with the outcome. I got lucky with the Glossy versions! I am not one who usually goes for glossy models, but I really do like how it looks on these two! Glossy is hard to find and usually way expensive, was happy i got a pick of the draw!As for durable, the toy is okay, not meant to be played with by rough children or very young. They also make a great collector's piece which mine are used for. These are a pair I won't let my children play with. They have other breyers for that!Over all I love this piece and am satisfied with it. The box was a little crunched and the models have a few scratches, but nothing too serious as I don't do LSQ (live show quality). But very happy with out they turned out!I love the molds for this mare and foal set but the paint job sucked. The mare was missing shading on one side ofher face that annoyed me. The paint jobs on these models are the breyer basic bays so that didn't really interest me in buying them just as the are. Thankfully I am artistic enough to repaint her in pastels as any other color but bay.Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! These models are the bay coloring and boy are they bright! Older breyers that were bay tended to be so flat in colors, but not these two! Their colors are beautiful and the details are amazing. Both stand up well and look great with the rest of my collection. I wouldn't have them around children unless you don't mind some scratches; most Breyers aren't great for children to play with unless they are careful. Wonderful Breyer models! Love the new mold.If you have granddaughters who like horses, then you really need to start them on the Breyer's Collection! These two horses, the mother and colt, are beautiful and every little girl wants to have a mother and baby in her collection! She'll have hours of fun with this set. I know- I remember my cousin and I playing with her collection for hours- and days- at a time! I could hardly wait to get to her house- that lucky duck- with all those beautiful horses to play with! This is a very nice set any little girl will love.i just love this model! it's perfect for display and for play.the shading on both is just stunning. My only concern is that this toy is very fragile and should not be played with like a reguler $5 toy from walmart. the rich coloring on the mare is definetly worth more than what it cost. the foal has the most adorable face i've ever seen on any model horse. many people will think that prouducts are classic just because it's cheaper than the rest, but these are traditional scale models. another thing i want say is that your two models for the price of one cheap one. A Must Buy!!!Horses are beautiful, and was pleased we got a set with the matte finish. Sadly though, the package had obviously been opened, with torn tabs and box corners. Items inside are very nice, but sad presentation as this is a Christmas gift. Very disappointed, as this is not the quality I have come to know with Amazon. Would request a replacement, except Christmas in only 2 weeks away.Lovely addition to anyone's Breyer collection. Both of the models are very detailed as expected of Breyer and beautifully sculpted (although they don't look too much like the two original horses). I was initially attracted by the price, as you're really getting two horses for about the price you would normally pay for just one, but after receiving them I am very glad that I picked these over any other model as they are just stunning. It should be stated somewhere though that you do have a 1 in 6 chance of receiving a glossy set over a matte finished set as shown as I was one who ended up with a glossy set (I'm very happy about this myself as I love them glossy finished, but I know that there are some who would prefer not to get a glossy - but like I said, it is totally luck of the draw.)Overall they are both beautiful models that are a perfect set for anyone's collection, I would recommend them for older children only though as they can break if played with too rough and the paint rubs off easily - but if a older collector or shower these are a must have!I have always wanted these models and they are perfect. the foal is quite big compared to a pony like pink magnum, he is practically the same size. great models a must have.Love these horsesDaughter loved themLovely Christmas present!
