My dog loves the feel of this toy in his mouth, which we call "the sausage dog" (hey, he's a border collie and toys have names). It's our second one. But, he is not a chewer, and we have toys from 15 years ago that were the dog's prior to his birth, for Pete's sake! But this toy? He has it broken in half after about a month. To be fair, he loves it, and he keeps it in his mouth when we push a giant child's ball around the yard, so it gets used a lot! But, if you have a chewer, it's not the toy for your pup!Our medium sized labradoodle puppy loves this chew toy. It was one of the first toys I bought for her when we brought her home at 9 weeks. The first thing she did was chew the tail off. Thankfully she doesn't eat everything she sees. I found the tail on the floor & threw it away. This toy is rated Medium chew strength. It is thick & hard to squeeze. I can't make it squeak & she has never squeaked it either. Her Vet squeaked it with no problem. The toy is 6" long. The body is about 1 1/8 - 1 1/4" in diameter which is perfect for her. This has been such a valuable toy that I purchased two more when they were being sold for a little over $4. We use one for car rides, one for the house & one for outside. She's 4 months old now & hasn't chewed the tail off the two new ones.I purchased a Medium Kong throwing stick I only gave a 3 for the price. With 4 (2 rat terrier, pit & shepherd) destructive dogs I buy a lot of JW Pet brand toys because of the durability but this toy does not live up to my jw pet standards. The squeaker was very hard to engage which made it less annoying but as my dog is playing chewing it I start to hear crunching plastic he had crushed the squeaker within. The rubber is softer exactly like the JW Pet gummi bear which had the same sort of tearing, seam separation and weak squeaker. For less than $4 and 24 hours of play might be worth it but imho for the same price you can buy a med cuz which lasts the longest by far at least in my house. Hopefully your dogs wont be like mine and only concentrate on eating out the butt of the toy. So be forewarned chunks can easily be ripped off.We usually love this brand for its durability. However, our 10#, four-month old pup chewed the tail off of this in 1 minute. No biggie- I just cut it close to The body. He chewed a leg off in the next 2 minutes. It was also impossible to squeak. It’s in the trash and the Amazon truck hasn’t even left my street…..When this toy arrived, I noticed very quickly that it took a lot of strength to get a squeak out of it. I think this encouraged my dog to bite much harder... She destroyed it within minutes. I gave it to her, turn to my computer, and she came up to me a few minutes later, wanting me to scratch her ears or pet her. But she only had half of the toy in her mouth. When I looked for the other part, I found that it was in about 3 pieces. She is a 48 pound mixed breed, and is almost 1 year old, if that helps any potential buyers. Getting a medium toy should have been appropriate. Large toys never quite fit in her mouth comfortably.Since the squeaker inside seemed like a hard object, I took the toy and threw it in the garbage. It seemed to be the squeaker, anyway... I'd never seen a squeaker like it before, but I'm also not used to seeing the inside of rubber toys.I have other reviews to leave for this line of toys, since I bought 6 toys total from JW Pet company. I will not buy any more products from this company, but I'm not too upset about losing my money since they were all a few dollars each with free shipping... I had told myself I would save most of them for Christmas gifts for my dog and some of my friends' dogs, but after she destroyed this one, I went ahead and let her play with the others too and there are now lots of rubber pieces in the dumpster. The three I have not thrown away are being monitored carefully, and her playtime with them is limited....I bought this for my 9 1/2 month old husky/Pitt mix. The toy was cute and smelled wonderful actually. Like vanilla. I gave her the toy and within two minutes she had the little tail off which I thought was no big deal. Then within an hour she had a chunk of the foot off and in the back the material was cracked. I was bummed because I figured with this type of material it would last a while. She is an aggressive chewer so if you have a dog that doesn't see a need to mutilate its toys then this toy would be a good fit. I Also bought other toys from this brand for Christmas so I will review them as well and let you know how long they last.I have had several dog toys produced and sold by JW Pets. Our last Labrador had 3 toys that lasted his whole life...14 years. Not only did they survive his rough play, but a couple of his Pit Bull family members chewed the heck out of them too...and they still survived.Purchased several JW Pets toys recently for our newest Labrador. I am confident that these new toys will last the lifetime of our 12 week old Lab too!Had a 50 lb English Bull Terrier and he never chewed up this brand. My 11 lb Rat Terrier tore it up in less than an hour. Are you using difference materials?Had a few toys from the JW 'ruffians' range which all lasted well, some we've had for years but this one was no match for our Jack Russell. He played with it well for about 2 days but on the 3rd he disappeared behind the couch & the back leg was chewed off & the squeaker then was chewed & fell out. Such a shame. Really need to get another bowling pin but they are sold out. Please make some more!!This at first glance seemed like a great dog toy - discreet squeak, lots of bounce and promised to be indestructible. 10 minutes playing and chewing (supervised) in the jaws of my medium-sized dog and it is in pieces. So not so mega-lasting after all...We have a young Terrier and he is very good at destroying toys. This toy is amazing! it bounces in different ways that make it interesting for our young dog to chase. His sharp teeth don't seem to mark the toy either. I would buy another one , it is fantastic!Wish I could still get those!SHE LOST IT WITHIN AN HOUR LOL
